Szczerze mówiąc, dawno nie miałem takiej zagwozdki przy ocenie smartfona, jak teraz, kiedy przychodzi mi podsumować recenzję Zenfone’a 11 Ultra. Czuję, że to taka wewnętrzna walka pomiędzy sympatią do tego sprzętu a niedoskonałościami, których nie brakuje. Ale od początku. ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra to ładny i dobrze wykonany sprzęt. Ma świetny ekran i głośniki, co przekłada się na kapitalne wrażenia audiowizualne. Wydajność i kultura pracy to również top, jeśli chodzi o rynek smartfonów. Bateria i ładowanie – tak jak pisałem – nic dodać, nic ująć. Oprogramowanie i funkcje, jakie oferuje, również nie pozostawiają wiele do życzenia. Pojawia się też kwestia Zenfone’a w wersji podstawowej, bo jednak przyzwyczailiśmy się, że ASUS wcelował się tą serią w grupę sympatyków małych smartfonów.

ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra to porządny smartfon. Cechuje się wysoką jakością wykonania, nie zawiera zbędnych aplikacji, zawiera pojemną baterię i obsługuje szybkie ładowanie. Ponadto posiada bardzo dobry wyświetlacz i oferuje bardzo wysoką wydajność – wręcz topową. Jakość wykonywanych przez niego zdjęć może mogłaby być trochę lepsza, ale i tak zadowala. Z kolei nagrywane przez niego filmy są świetnie stabilizowane. Smartfon ten oferuje bardzo podobne możliwości do ostatniego telefonu ASUS dedykowanego graczom – ASUS Rog Phone 8, ale decyzja o wypuszczeniu ten samej konfiguracji w obudowie o bardziej stonowanym designie nie powinna nikogo dziwić. Dzięki zmianom w wyglądzie ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra może sprzedawać się jeszcze lepiej. Niemniej, ASUS popełnił w tym urządzeniu sporo błędów. Jasne, wielu użytkowników pogodzi się z jego dużą masą i rozmiarami.

A skoro już przy designie jesteśmy, to jest on moim zdaniem najsłabszym elementem nowości ASUSa - Zenfone 11 Ultra jest nudny, zapobiegawczy, a jego wyspa aparatów to jakiś totalny oldschool. Nie da się jednak przejść obojętnie obok świetnego ekranu, wydajności (choć nie udało się uniknąć „ciepełka” pod dużym obciążeniem i throttlingu termicznego), bogatego zaplecza komunikacyjnego, możliwości obiektywu głównego wyposażonego w gimbal czy teleobiektywu (tu mogło być jeszcze lepiej, ale może następnym razem), niezłego czasu pracy na baterii czy wreszcie obecności praktycznej sztucznej inteligencji. Kiedy już ASUS zdecyduje się na powszechną dostępność funkcji AI, z których większość jest naprawdę przydatna w codziennym użytkowaniu, wielu użytkowników może zainteresować się tym smartfonem choćby z tego powodu.

W tytule napisałam, że Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra to pierwszy taki smartfon w ofercie marki. Taki… czyli jaki? Można go nazwać cywilnym odpowiednikiem Asusa ROG Phone 8 / 8 Pro. Pod wieloma względami są to bliźniacze smartfony. Przy czym Zenfone 11 Ultra jest pierwszym dużym Zenfonem – po prostu. Dotychczas Asus rozgraniczał serie nie tylko przeznaczeniem – Zenfone dla każdego, ROG Phone – dla gamerów, ale też rozmiarami – pierwsze kompaktowe, drugie – spore konstrukcje. Aż do tej pory. I w ogólnym ujęciu jest to naprawdę fajny smartfon, ale odnoszę wrażenie, że zbyt wysoko wyceniony. W testowej wersji (16/512) kosztuje 5099 złotych (w przedsprzedaży odejmijcie od tego 400 złotych).

Cóż – jeśli pieniądze nie są najważniejsze, to moim zdaniem zdecydowanie warto dopłacić. Jeśli są – chyba nadal poszukałbym czegoś od konkurencji. ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra ma sporo do zaoferowania i na pewno będzie tanieć jak szalony. Sęk w tym, że nie do końca wiem, dla kogo jest ten telefon. Co gorsza – Zenfone 11 Ultra zdaje się sam tego nie wiedzieć. Nie jest bowiem tak dobrym telefonem dla gracza, jak ROG Phone 8. OnePlus 12 kosztuje podobną kasę, a wygrywa w zasadzie na każdym froncie. Aparat ma masę trików AI, z których korzysta się raz i z nich nie zapomina. Jakość zdjęć stoi na poziomie dawnych Motoroli, czyli średnim. Bateria teoretycznie ma wielką pojemność, a w praktyce nieco mnie rozczarowała. Mam wrażenie, że najpoważniejszym rywalem dla ASUSa Zenfone 11 Ultra jest Samsung Galaxy S24+.

Główne wybrane aparaty to 50-megapikselowy moduł Sony IMX890 z hybrydową stabilizacją, 32-megapikselowy teleobiektyw z 3-krotnym zoomem optycznym oraz 13-megapikselowy czujnik szerokokątny, co znacznie poprawia możliwości fotograficzne phableta, który jest obecnie nie gorsze od telefonów z aparatem. Nawet zdjęcia wieczorne i nocne są pełne szczegółów, będziesz zadowolony z braku szumów i realistycznego odwzorowania kolorów. Dźwięk stereo jest głośny (w szczytach do 95 dB), bas jest wyraźnie słyszalny. Dostępne są płatności zbliżeniowe NFC, jest też ochrona przed wilgocią zgodna ze standardami IP68 i wysokiej jakości 32-megapikselowy aparat do selfie. Tym samym mamy przed sobą wzorowego przedstawiciela kategorii cenowej bez żadnych oczywistych niedociągnięć.

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is both an interesting direction for the company to take and a bit of a head-scratcher. Rather than give us an optimised and sized-up version of its recent Zenfone work, what we essentially have is a tweaked and rebadged ROG Phone 8. This results in predictably outstanding performance and strong – if not class-leading – battery life. You also get a big, bright, responsive and colour-accurate display, as well as a UI that’s far less in-your-face than many of its rivals. However, what was a relatively sleek gaming phone turns out to be a slightly hefty and charmless mainstream phone, with little to no apparent relation to the stylish Zenfone 10. In a similar vein, what was a strong camera system for a gaming handset turns out to be merely adequate in mainstream flagship terms. The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is a solid all-round full-sized flagship phone at a fairly competitive price, but it feels like Asus is cautiously dipping its toes into such waters rather than diving in with a distinct product.

Picture lovers have a 50MP main camera on the back to snap highly detailed imagery, with a decent night mode for low-light moments in the evenings. Substantially bigger than, say, an iPhone 14 Pro. But it’s slim and smooth exterior makes it feel elegant in the palm, barring that oddly bulky camera box on the top corner. Does this handset visually stand out as a must-buy in the market, no.

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is an excellent, but also very strange Asus smartphone. It looks like its ancestor. However, that parent is not the Zenfone 10, but the ROG Phone 8, with which it is identical in almost all respects. The engine in the two mobiles is also the same, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This makes the Zenfone 11 Ultra one of the undeniably fastest mobiles on the market right now. It also makes it expensive, but Asus has still managed to keep the price below €1,200. This makes it one of the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobiles. With three rear cameras, including one with Asus’ ingenious gimbal image stabilisation, the Zenfone 11 Ultra is a super powerful phone that should be considered by anyone looking for a high-end Android phone. But mobile buyers are loyal to Apple, Samsung and OnePlus. So it’s likely that the Zenfone 11 Ultra will also remain a well-kept secret.

If you're considering picking up the Tab S9 FE+, I would recommend considering exactly what you need from your next tablet. If you're after a big screen and long battery life, this is the one for you. But if you'd be okay with something a little smaller or serves as a second device when you aren't using it, the Pixel Tablet is always a great option. It comes with a smaller 10.2-inch screen and a Tensor G2 processor, and it bundles a speaker dock in the box that turns it into a smart display. Plus, it's $200 cheaper. But if you have your heart set on a big tablet for watching movies and multitasking on the go and want to keep your spending in check, the Tab S9 FE+ is a solid choice. There's nothing really special that stands out about the device, but as a general everyday tablet (that happens to be larger than average and comes with a stylus in the box), it's quite good.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra is a very capable phone—super-fast, snappy, and with an amazingly bright screen. The real problem here is, at least the way we see it, that Asus has taken the ROG Phone 8 and streamlined it into a mainstream device. It's a valid marketing strategy. People do love big and fast phones but often feel reluctant to buy a "gaming" phone, so this might work. The thing is, while the previous Zenfone models were unique in the Android market due to their compact form factor, now the Taiwanese company has to compete with behemoths such as Samsung and Apple and fight off value propositions such as the OnePlus 12. It's not an easy gig to pull off. Pre-orders in the US are live now, early birds will get free Cetra TWS in-ear headphones in white with every order. US official sales channels are the ASUS eStore and Mobile Advance. Mobile Advance will also carry on the Amazon US marketplace, so you can get the Zenfone 11 Ultra through Amazon as well.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra uses the ROG Phone 8 as a foundation, and it retains the same chassis with a few tweaks. The design is minimalist, but you don't get much in the way of a unique identity — not surprising given it is a rebadged model. What you'll like more is the hardware; the Zenfone 11 Ultra has a large AMOLED panel that's terrific in daily use, it retains a 3.5mm jack and IP68 ingress protection, a large battery that lasts longer than just about any other device, and it is one of the fastest phones around. ASUS also made meaningful changes to its cameras, and the clean software is a delight to use. That said, the cameras aren't on the same level as other flagships, and ASUS's asinine software policy makes the Zenfone 11 Ultra a non-starter.

After spending two weeks with the Zenfone 11 Ultra, I came away quite underwhelmed. Compared to a lot of the other phones I’ve reviewed this year, there’s just not a lot here from ASUS. It’s like a base model phone, with all of the special features being saved for the ROG Phone 8 series. A lot of what made Zenfone so popular in the tech community in the past couple of years is gone. The small size, the great battery life, and the impressive price tag are all gone. The Zenfone 10 started at $699 here in the US last year. The Zenfone 11 Ultra will start at €999 in Europe (we don’t have a US price just yet, but expect it to be similar). That’s a massive $300 bump for a phone that’s losing out on a lot of things compared to its predecessor. And that makes it challenging to recommend this phone.

I have no idea why you would really want to buy the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra. I like Asus phones and usually take pleasure in recommending them, but in this instance, I genuinely think you should just buy the ROG Phone 8 Pro with its toned-down (but still cool) design and unobtrusive but useful gaming features. It’s the Zenfone 11 Ultra, just more interesting. But if you never play games, it would be a waste, and the trouble in this situation is the Zenfone 11 Ultra’s competitors are all much more compelling, often better looking, and come with longer software update commitments. Sadly, Asus hasn’t given you a real reason to buy the Zenfone 11 Ultra over them and has simply stripped back all the bits that make the ROG Phone 8 Pro fun and exciting to leave a rather forgettable phone.

We unquestionably enjoyed our time with the Zenfone 11 Ultra. Asus has a very "no-nonsense" approach to smartphone development and the general UX, especially regarding the Zenfone line, which is meant to have a much broader appeal than the ROG Phone. At the same time, the Zenfone 11 Ultra confuses us on multiple points. Primarily, we are left wondering if this big new Ultra is all for the Zenfone 11 generation or perhaps there is a compact sibling still in the works. Naturally, Asus is keeping a tight lip on the matter and, on occasion, brings up the Zenfone 10 as a viable compact alternative that will continue to be sold in the foreseeable future. Let's not beat about the bush here or misrepresent reality.

The world was hardly crying out for a big screen Zenfone, especially after Asus had transformed the ROG Phone 8 into more of an everyman model. Don’t let my star rating convince you this is a bad phone. It’s got performance muscle and a beefy battery, along with a very bright screen and a few slick AI additions. But that’s not enough when rivals also offer superior camera quality, and often for less money. A OnePlus 12 is simply the better buy. Perhaps an entry-level variant with 128GB of storage and a lower price might’ve made things interesting.

This is an unusual review to write. There is no question that the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is a good phone. It's almost like the blueprint for an Android phone in 2024, and it's solid. With that being said, it doesn't really offer anything to get too excited about. The performance is good, though it can fall down under intense load. The camera is good, but has issues with over-sharpening. Ultimately, the biggest issue it's going to face is comparison to the Asus ROG Phone 8. Sure, these models run a little cheaper than the ROG range, but I'd wager that it probably isn't enough to steer people away – particularly when the ROG Phone has dialled down its gamer-centric design language. In short, this is a really capable handset which represents decent value in the current market. If you're a fan of the design – and want some really top-tier videography hardware – this should certainly be on your list.

It’s Big Android Phone season, because the Zenfone 11 Ultra arrives on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, the S24 Ultra, and the OnePlus 12. They all use the same chipset (well, provided you buy the S24 Plus in the US) and not-a-one of them has a screen smaller than 6.7 inches. I can clearly recommend three out of four of these phones, but the Zenfone, I’m just not sure about. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the obvious pick for someone who wants the absolute most out of their phone. The $799 OnePlus 12 is the right choice if you want a big screen and want to spend a little less. For everyone else, there’s the Galaxy S24 Plus — the crowd-pleaser that’s readily available with trade-in and carrier deals galore. The Zenfone just doesn’t earn a clear space for itself here. Maybe if it had an outstanding camera or it had better network support in the US or, I don’t know, a thoughtful form factor unlike anything else on the market.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to test this feature. We’ve seen ASUS’ other AI features before. The cameras are pretty much in-line, if not quite as capable, as similarly priced alternatives, the screen tech mostly matches that of the competition, and despite having a larger battery than most, it’s still just a one-day device. That said, the Zenfone 11 Ultra’s highly customisable approach to Android 14 is one of the best around, offering the choice between stock and ZenUI on a granular level, and the AI features enhance the experience even if they don’t go quite as far as the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy AI.

The $899 Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra goes toe-to-toe with top phones from Google and Samsung for $100 less. It provides strong performance in an attractive design with long battery life, useful AI features, and gaming chops to spare. It's certainly a good value compared with the ROG phone, considering the Zenfone gives you pretty much the same experience in a different design for less money. That said, the Galaxy S24+ and the Pixel 8 Pro support mmWave 5G, have even better cameras, and offer longer-term support, so they're definitely worth considering. For the absolute top Android phone experience, meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Ultra includes a stylus and has the best camera of the bunch, but it's also the most expensive at $1,299.99.

Reviewing Asus' Zenfone 11 Ultra, a 6.8-inch super-sized smartphone sporting similar camera tech and specs to the ROG Phone 8. There's no compact version yet, only the Zenfone 11 Ultra - but is it a rival to the Samsung S24 Ultra, Pixel 8 Pro etc? Well, no, not really. It's considerably cheaper than the Galaxy, but as a package Google's flagship phone is better. For one, the camera on the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra isn't as dependable when the lighting isn't great. I also prefer the design of the Pixel 8 phones. That said, Asus has nailed the performance here. Genshin Impact plays with a stable frame rate for hours at a time, while the Zenfone 11 Ultra keeps its cool. Plus, the battery life is excellent so you can keep going all day with no worries.

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra moves away from the compact phone form factor of the last three Zenfones, instead it is now a 6.8-inch "Ultra" flagship with a proper telephoto lens to boot. The battery is also much larger, at 5,500 mAh. The phone is powered by, of course, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The main Sony IMX890 camera is still built on-top of a miniature six-axis gimbal for enhanced stabilization.

Układ graficzny do smartfonów i tabletów zintegrowany z procesorem Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Qualcomm twierdzi, że jest o 25% szybszy od Adreno 7340 w Snapdragonie 8 Gen 2, a pierwsze testy porównawcze pokazują, że GPU jest w stanie pokonać iGPU Apple A17 Pro.

Karty z tej kategorii są w stanie pociągnąć płynnie najnowsze gry, ale

nie ze wszystkimi opcjami i nie w wysokiej rozdzielczości. Szczególnie

wymagające gry chodzą tylko na minimalnych ustawieniach, w wyniku

czego często mocno cierpi jakość grafiki. Układy z tej klasy powinny

zainteresować osoby rzadko grające w gry.
