The Lemokey L5 HE 8K is a new wired gaming keyboard with Hall effect magnetic switches, 8K polling rate, 0.01mm sensitivity, rapid trigger, and dynamic keystrokes. Launching on Kickstarter from February 10, 2025 for $199.
Launch Accessory Gaming

Lemokey, a sub-brand of Hong-Kong-based Keychron, has brought its newest L5 HE 8K magnetic switch custom gaming keyboard to the market. This is a wired keyboard with Hall effect magnetic switches (which are likely Gateron Double-Rail switches, also present in the Lemokey P1 HE) and an 8000 Hz polling and scan rate — bringing down the latency to just 0.125 milliseconds. It supports adjustable actuation points ranging from 0.01mm to 3.35mm, with a sensitivity of 0.01mm. The Double-Rails are generally well-regarded, and they come in three different variants - Dawn, Nebula, and Aurora (see below).

The L5 HE 8K comes with rapid trigger functionality, which allows keys to activate and deactivate based on travel distance. It has support for dynamic keystrokes, which lets users assign up to four actions per key depending on press depth. Additional features include Last Keystroke Prioritization (LKP) and Snap Click for responsive and reliable input in case of simultaneous key presses.

The keyboard has a built-in analog joystick mode for smoother control and N-Key Rollover for anti-ghosting. Furthermore, the L5 HE 8K is QMK compatible, which should allow for extensive key mapping and macro customizations via the Lemokey Launcher web configurator.

Build-quality wise, the Lemokey L5 is constructed with a CNC-machined aluminum body and equipped with Cherry Profile double-shot PBT keycaps, that are also shine-through out-of-the-box (only if you get the Cyber/black and green colorway). The north-facing RGB backlight supports 22 lighting modes like flash, breathing, and static effects. The keyboard uses pre-lubed plate-mounted stabilizers to provide a stable typing experience, and also offers switchable top and gasket mount styles for users to customize their typing feel. While Top Mount offers a firmer, more rigid typing experience with less flex, Gasket Mount provides a softer, more cushioned typing feel.

The keyboard features a 75% ANSI layout with a knob, measures 329mm x 150mm, and comes with a 1.5-meter cable. It is compatible with Windows, with an optional Mac layout via the aforementioned configurator. For additional peace of mind, the L5 HE 8K comes with a one-year warranty. It will compete against keyboards like the Wooting 80HE, NuPhy Field 75HE and the Iqunix EZ63 with mechanical switches and a smaller form factor (currently $179.99 on Amazon). The Keychron Q1 HE is also another solid contender, albeit being more expensive, at $239.99 on Amazon.

If you have a color preference, you'll be glad to find out that the keyboard will be available in three color schemes—Cyber (black and green), Dark Master (black and red), and Dawn Master (white and brown). The Lemokey L5 HE 8K will be available through a Kickstarter campaign starting February 10, 2025. Those who support the early crowdfunding campaign can purchase the keyboard for $199.
