The Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s display experience was average for an Ultra-premium device. The display was fine for viewing photos in indoor conditions, with the screen delivering good color rendering. However, outdoors under sunlight, the color rendering was very unnatural. Viewing HDR10 content was somewhat bothersome because of the screen’s inaccurate tone mapping and low brightness. The highlight of the display experience on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra was surfing the web because of its smooth interactions and its 120 Hz refresh rate.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s DXOMARK Audio score of 129 is average for a device in its class. In Playback, it is most suited for listening to music, achieving slightly lower scores in the gaming and movie use cases. Dynamics could be more accurate but are overall impactful. Good wideness and localizability are accompanied by a nice high-end extension and bass. Sound is pretty much free of artifacts as well. Areas with potential for improvement include an inconsistent timbre, aggressive sound, and sub-optimal tonal balance when gaming, and an inaccurate stereo image. The 12S Ultra does quite well across all use cases as a recording device. Recordings feature great timbre with natural tonal balance, as well as excellent spatial and dynamics rendition. Wind noise reduction does a good job at retaining intelligibility in windy conditions. However, our testers also noted overall too much compression and distortion, and the results of the audio zoom feature are overall underwhelming. Some background rejection is achieved but this is paid for by a loss of bass and low-midrange as well as a decrease in volume consistency.

While we normally try not to put too much weight into benchmarking scores, when we are comparing high-end smartphones, it helps to discern which is serving up the best performance on paper. In the case of the 12S Ultra, that performance also translates to the in-hand experience. The only remaining element to consider is cost. This 8GB RAM/256GB storage model is recommended to retail for 6 499 Chinese Yuan (~R16 146). We can only speculate what the local price tag would be, but given the performance on offer, there is certainly room to justify picking one of these up, especially if it’s in line with what we have seen from the likes of Samsung and its premium flagship phones.

We really can’t give a fair shake for the Xiaomi 12s Ultra yet since the lendout period for the device was quite short and the fact that our unit featured China ROM but we do like what we’re seeing so far. One of our biggest concerns when it comes to Xiaomi smartphones when we get them in for review is that we know that they tend to compromise on camera performance, which is defintiely not the case here. It looks like they have the final piece of the puzzle sorted out with the Xiaomi 12s Ultra and it’s actually pretty interesting to see how far they can push their mobile photography game now that they have Leica as a powerful ally. The only downside we can see so far is the pricing for this phone isn’t the usual bang-for-your-buck pricing that we usually associate with Xiaomi prodcuts. However, we do understand the reason behind it.

Overall, though, I really liked shooting with the 12S Ultra, and I let myself trust it in more situations than I would with another smartphone camera. That might not be totally fair, either. I think knowing that I was working with a bigger sensor convinced me to use it in more ways than I would another phone camera. Even so, it stood up to a lot of these use cases surprisingly well, like taking a photo of my husband tossing our kid in the air or using portrait mode in less than amazing light with a moving subject. I got a lot more keepers than I expected in both of those situations.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra has put us in a weird spot. On the one hand, it's easily one of the best cameraphones, and a lot of our excitement does stem from that main unit that you can't get elsewhere. Co jednak ważne, wyposażony jest w akumulator 5000 mAh (vs 4300 mAh), przy czym o wolniejszym ładowaniu (25 W vs 67 W) niż to, jakie znajdziemy w Xiaomi 12 Lite. Do tego w Xiaomi miłym dodatkiem jest port podczerwieni i fakt, że jest sporo lżejszy. Abstrahując już od brata z innego ojca, Xiaomi 12 Lite kosztuje aktualnie 2199 złotych i to jest jego największy problem. Odnoszę jednak wrażenie, że ostatnio w większości recenzji się powtarzam – bo faktem jest, że aktualnie mamy do czynienia z sytuacją, w której praktycznie każdy sprzęt jest dużo droższy niż byłby jeszcze rok temu. The Xiaomi 12 Lite costs $399, the Poco F4 starts at $410, and it has a better Snapdragon processor and faster memory standards (LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1). The Xiaomi 12 Lite does offer a slightly better main camera and display design (symmetrical bezels), but everything else is about equal, down to that useless 2MP macro sensor. If both phones are available in your region, I’d say the Poco is the better option. Otherwise, the Xiaomi 12 Lite, in a vacuum, is yet another very, very good mid-tier phone.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite seems like a solid "lite" version of the more expensive Xiaomi 12X, vanilla 12 and 12 Pro. It maintains a relatively competitive price tag that, also makes sense in the Xiaomi 12 series while retaining some high-end features. А speedy 67W fast charging, flagship-grade OLED panel, big 108MP main sensor and boxy, catchy design make a compelling case. And camera performance is pretty solid, too. Sadly, battery life keeps us from giving the handset an excellent score, the proper ingress protection is gone, so is the microSD card slot and we are getting a bit tired of the overused 8MP ultrawide sensor. Not enough to be a deal-breaker, though. In fact, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is an easy-to-recommend 2022 solution. Just keep an open mind for some older 2021 options as they often offer better price/performance ratio or, in some cases, more versatile camera hardware. Then again, if we go by the previous Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G and 11 Lite price action, price will go down pretty soon, building an even stronger case for the 12 Lite.

It maintains a relatively competitive price tag that, also makes sense in the Xiaomi 12 series while retaining some high-end features. А speedy 67W fast charging, flagship-grade OLED panel, big 108MP main sensor and boxy, catchy design make a compelling case. And camera performance is pretty solid, too. Sadly, battery life keeps us from giving the handset an excellent score, the proper ingress protection is gone, so is the microSD card slot and we are getting a bit tired of the overused 8MP ultrawide sensor. Not enough to be a deal-breaker, though. In fact, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is an easy-to-recommend 2022 solution. Just keep an open mind for some older 2021 options as they often offer better price/performance ratio or, in some cases, more versatile camera hardware. Then again, if we go by the previous Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G and 11 Lite price action, price will go down pretty soon, building an even stronger case for the 12 Lite.

Xiaomi:

Karty z tej kategorii są w stanie pociągnąć płynnie najnowsze gry, ale

nie ze wszystkimi opcjami i nie w wysokiej rozdzielczości. Szczególnie

wymagające gry chodzą tylko na minimalnych ustawieniach, w wyniku

czego często mocno cierpi jakość grafiki. Układy z tej klasy powinny

zainteresować osoby rzadko grające w gry.

Qualcomm Adreno 730: Układ graficzny dla smartfonów i tabletów, który jest zintegrowany w Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Qualcomm twierdzi, że jest on o 30% szybszy niż Adreno 660 w SoC Snapdragon 888. Dla Android powinna to być jedna z najszybszych kart graficznych pod koniec 2021 roku.

Niektóre mniej wymagające nowsze gry mogą działać dobrze na niskich

ustawieniach. Karty te są oczywiście odpowiednie do aplikacji

biurowych i odtwarzania filmów.

SD 778G 5G: Szybki SoC ARM średniej klasy z 8 rdzeniami CPU Kryo 670 (cztery szybkie rdzenie ARM Cortex-A78 o częstotliwości taktowania do 2,4 GHz i cztery małe rdzenie ARM Cortex-A55 o częstotliwości taktowania do 1,8 GHz) oraz zintegrowanym modemem X53 5G (pobieranie do 3300 Mb/s). SoC jest produkowany w nowoczesnym procesie technologicznym 6 nm w TSMC.
