Wraz z laptopem S20, Medion wprowadził na rynek 17,3-calowy notebook multimedialny. Za 1000 euro, kompletny pakiet notebooka dostępnego w Aldi składa się z 16 GB pamięci RAM, wyświetlacza IPS 16:9, jednego terabajta M.2 SSD i wbudowanego Intel Core Ultra 7 155H.

Wraz z modelem S20, Medion wprowadza na rynek wydajny 17,3-calowy notebook z wyświetlaczem IPS o rozdzielczości 1920 x 1080 pikseli. Model ten wyposażony jest w procesor Intel Core Ultra 7 155H który oferuje 16 rdzeni i 22 wątki, a także procesor Intel Arc. Obudowa i funkcje - Aluminiowo-magnezowa obudowa bez USB 4

Obudowa Medion S20 wykonana jest z mieszanki aluminium i magnezu, co nadaje notebookowi solidną i stosunkowo lekką konstrukcję. Przy wadze 2,1 kg i wymiarach 39,6 x 25,3 x 2,5 cm, jest on stosunkowo przenośny pomimo 17,3-calowego wyświetlacza. Ogólna jakość wykonania jest solidna i pozostawia wrażenie wysokiej jakości. Maksymalny kąt otwarcia wynosi niecałe 160 stopni, a zawiasy są sztywne i ciche. Otwieranie jedną ręką nie jest jednak możliwe.

Łącznie dostępnych jest 5 portów USB: trzy porty USB-A i dwa porty USB-C. Niestety są to tylko USB 3.2 Gen 1, co oznacza, że wyższe prędkości transmisji danych USB 4 lub Thunderbolt 4 nie są dostępne. Porty USB-C oferują przynajmniej DP Alt-Mode i Power Delivery. Łącznie z laptopem można więc obsługiwać trzy zewnętrzne wyświetlacze (1x HDMI, 2x DP).

Łączność bezprzewodową zapewnia układ WiFi 6E (Intel AX211), który osiąga solidne wyniki. Zintegrowana kamera internetowa oferuje 2,1 MP i nie należy spodziewać się tu cudów. Trzeba jednak wspomnieć, że dla kamerki jest dedykowany włącznik/wyłącznik. Pomimo naprawdę dużej obudowy, nie ma czytnika kart SD ani złącza Ethernet.

Zrównoważony rozwój

Niestety, opakowanie laptopa jest w dużej mierze wykonane z plastiku. Zarówno zasilacz, jak i laptop są owinięte w plastik, chociaż laptop jest zapakowany w dużą folię bąbelkową. Potencjalne aktualizacje i naprawy są możliwe w przypadku laptopa Medion S20. Płyta bazowa montowana jest jedynie za pomocą 12 śrub. Uwaga: Łącznie używane są trzy różne długości śrub. Ponieważ system Windows 11 Home jest preinstalowany, aktualizacje oprogramowania są gwarantowane przez kilka następnych lat.

Urządzenia wejściowe - podświetlane klawisze, pełnowymiarowa klawiatura i duży gładzik

W dużej obudowie laptopa Medion S20 znalazło się miejsce na pełnowymiarową klawiaturę z czterokolumnową klawiaturą numeryczną. Klawiatura jest typu chiclet, a komfort pisania jest bardzo dobry, choć punkt nacisku mógłby być nieco mniej miękki. Mieliśmy również problemy z klawiszem 1 w naszym modelu, który często nie reagował. Dzięki solidnej aluminiowo-magnezowej obudowie, klawiatura nie ugina się podczas pisania. Spodobały nam się również pełnowymiarowe klawisze strzałek i Enter.

Gładzik ze szklaną powierzchnią jest bardzo duży (ok. 14 x 9,7 cm), ale wciąż ma miejsce na manewrowanie w pionie. Problem z gładzikiem polega na tym, że tylko dolna jedna trzecia może być naprawdę kliknięta, a nawet wtedy tylko z niezwykłą siłą.

Przy rozdzielczości 1 920 x 1 080 pikseli, 17,3-calowy ekran oferuje stosunkowo niską gęstość pikseli. W porównaniu do konkurencyjnych modeli, takich jak Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 G9 lub Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 medion S20 z dużym wyświetlaczem oferuje najniższą rozdzielczość. Pokrycie kolorów wyświetlacza IPS również nie jest szczególnie dobre, więc laptop zdecydowanie nie nadaje się do profesjonalnej edycji obrazu. Jasność na poziomie 372 nitów jest jednak całkiem solidna, a w połączeniu z matową powłoką, notebook Medion S20 może być również używany na zewnątrz bez żadnych problemów.

Jedynie przestrzeń kolorów sRGB jest pokryta w miarę dobrze, ale nawet tutaj wszyscy wybrani konkurenci wypadają znacznie lepiej. Krytycznie odnosimy się do faktu, że Medion reklamuje pełne pokrycie przestrzeni sRGB za pomocą naklejki na obudowie, ale możemy zmierzyć pokrycie tylko 92%. Wartości DeltaE jeszcze bardziej odbiegają od rzeczywistości, ale po kalibracji można osiągnąć granicę odchylenia < 2 zarówno dla skali szarości, jak i kolorów. Zarówno IdeaPad Pro 5 16IMH G9, Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro 16, Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro 16, LG Gram 17oraz SCHENKER XMG Evo 15 wykorzystują ten sam procesor, ale osiągają nieco lepsze wyniki w większości testów porównawczych. Laptop nie jest zalecany dla użytkowników o szczególnie wysokich wymaganiach dotyczących wydajności. Jeśli jednak chcą Państwo po prostu przeglądać Internet, wykonywać prace biurowe lub grać w mniej wymagające gry, nie można się pomylić z Medion S20.

Test ciągłego obciążenia wielowątkowego pokazuje, że wydajność procesora utrzymuje się na stałym poziomie i nie zauważyliśmy spadku wydajności po dłuższym czasie pracy. Wyniki wszystkich benchmarków pokazują, że procesor radzi sobie tylko nieznacznie gorzej niż przeciętny Core Ultra 7 155H. W codziennym użytkowaniu, z konwencjonalnymi aplikacjami biurowymi, internetowymi i multimedialnymi, nie zauważyliśmy żadnych problemów z notebookiem. Jednak benchmarki systemowe pokazują, że model ten konsekwentnie osiąga gorsze wyniki niż konkurencyjne modele z Ultra 7 155H. Spadki wydajności wynikają częściowo z wyższych limitów mocy niektórych konkurencyjnych modeli, a częściowo z tego, że wiele konkurencyjnych modeli oferuje szybszą pamięć RAM. Jednak, jak już wspomniano, model spełnia swoją rolę jako urządzenie multimedialne, a biorąc pod uwagę rozmiar w połączeniu ze znacznie niższą ceną w porównaniu do konkurencji, uważamy, że wydajność jest wystarczająca.

Nasz test opóźnień DPC ujawnił problemy, co oznacza, że edycja wideo i audio w czasie rzeczywistym nie jest możliwa przy użyciu tego urządzenia. Nie zauważyliśmy jednak żadnych problemów w codziennym użytkowaniu lub podczas odtwarzania filmów z YouTube w rozdzielczości 4K. Przyszłe aktualizacje oprogramowania mogą poprawić opóźnienia DPC.

Medion S20 musi również pójść na ustępstwa w porównaniu do konkurencji pod względem wydajności graficznej. Karta graficzna Intel Arc 8 iGPU wypada tutaj znacznie poniżej swoich możliwości. Spojrzenie na częstotliwości taktowania również pokazuje dlaczego. Intel Arc iGPU jest w rzeczywistości zdolny do taktowania do 2,25 GHz. W laptopie Medion S20 układ graficzny osiąga jednak maksymalnie 1,45 GHz. Średnia częstotliwość taktowania w naszym benchmarku Cyberpunk wynosi zaledwie 1,05 GHz. Co więcej, często szybsza pamięć RAM w konkurencyjnych modelach również zapewnia tutaj lepsze wyniki.

W niektóre gry można grać ze stabilną liczbą klatek na sekundę w ustawieniach dławionych, ale model ten nie nadaje się do gier. Ponieważ zewnętrzne rozwiązania graficzne nie są możliwe bez USB 4 i Thunderbolt 4, to rozwiązanie również nie jest możliwe.

Wentylatory laptopa Medion S20 rozkręcają się pod obciążeniem, ale nie przekraczają maksymalnego poziomu 43 dB(A). Wentylatory Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 G9 jest głośniejszy pod obciążeniem. Niestety, notebook nigdy nie jest całkowicie cichy, nawet w stanie bezczynności, ponieważ wentylatory zawsze pracują na minimalnym poziomie. Żywotność baterii

Niestety, stosunkowo wysoki pobór mocy laptopa Medion S20 jest również zauważalny w żywotności baterii. Po niecałych ośmiu i pół godzinach w naszym teście przeglądania stron internetowych, to wszystko. Spośród konkurencyjnych urządzeń tylko Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 wypada gorzej, wszystkie inne modele działają dłużej. Jednak przy 70 Wh pojemność baterii Medion S20 jest znacznie mniejsza niż u konkurencji, mimo że 17,3-calowy laptop ma bardzo dużą obudowę.

Medion S20 to duży 17,3-calowy notebook multimedialny, który pomimo dobrych funkcji wykazuje pewne słabości. Aluminiowo-magnezowa obudowa jest solidnie wykonana i ma tylko dwa centymetry szerokości. Duży wyświetlacz oferuje akceptowalną rozdzielczość Full HD, ale bez wybitnego odwzorowania kolorów, co czyni go mniej odpowiednim do edycji obrazu. Niestety, złącza USB 4 i Thunderbolt 4 nie zostały uwzględnione, ale w sumie nadal można obsługiwać trzy zewnętrzne wyświetlacze.

Intel Core Ultra 7 i Intel Arc Graphics zwykle zapewniają gorsze wyniki w benchmarkach niż porównywalne modele. Największym problemem urządzenia jest najwyraźniej słaby system chłodzenia: Wentylatory są zawsze włączone, a mimo to laptop bardzo się nagrzewa pod obciążeniem
